✹ PREFERENCES

☆ BACKTAGGING: Yes.
☆ THREAD HOPPING: Yes. If it's a network post, go crazy. But if it's a log, give me some sort of heads up if the post order should be changing. I don't want to screw up the flow.
☆ FOURTHWALLING: Kind of yes. If your character has any connection to Italy or knowledge of the mafia, they're free to know of the Vongola Famiglia, and may even know of him as the son of the current don. No outing him as a fictional character, though, please.
☆ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Not too much. I've included some limits below, but PM me if you're not sure about something! Chances are you can still convince me!
☆ RELATIONSHIPS: I live for ships, but Xanxus' only true love is Xanxus. We can see what happens! Regarding canonmates, Squalo is cool. Tsuna is not. Come on. Ages.
☆ HEADCANON: There's a lot we never see, so there's a lot of takes on this. While I get the hang of this guy, I'm always up for hearing yours to see what I can add to him.


✹ FIRST IMPRESSIONS

☆ NAME / BIRTH:
"I am the man whose name has two tens, Xanxus!"
Displaying the ability to use the Flame of Wrath from an early age, Xanxus was named with the roman numeral X in mind, as his mother believed he should rightfully become Vongola Decimo. His birthday is October 10th, as well, if the name alone weren't enough to drive it in.
So who wants to tell him XX is actually 20?

☆ VISUAL:
At 188cm / 6'2" and a well toned 80kg / 176 lbs, he can look pretty intimidating even before he speaks. His body is heavily scarred due to frost burn, and even more may become visible when he's angered.
Reborn has a strange art style when it comes to identifying characters' ages-- they all look quite a bit older than they are. So considering Xanxus has been frozen for 8 years, it's up to interpretation whether he physically looks 24 or 16. Either way, he certainly doesn't look like someone you'd want to pick a fight with.

☆ FASHION:
Pretty nice, in public. He's better than you and you'll know it just looking at him. But he's going to look good through status, not effort. When not in his Varia uniform, brands are likely the highest-end available, without being flashy.
Alone or with only fellow Varia, he's kind of a mess: his tie loosened if still there at all, and dress shirt untucked and wrinkled. He'll most often sleep in whatever he was already wearing, so it's a lot of maintenance for someone else to deal with after.

☆ DEMEANOR:
Again, intimidating, but most people aren't worth his time and so may not be actively shown any reason to fear him. Still, fear is what he rules with, so that says quite a lot on its own. He's not too talkative, and usually gets his points across with a look that those serving him immediately understand.
In Snowblind, it may be noticeable that he's favouring his left hand, despite most likely being right-handed.

☆ AURAL:
Rough, and deep.
What you'd expect from some dangerous mafia guy, really.

☆ OLFACTORY:
Fuck if I know.
Alcohol and gunpowder are likely noticeable as well, though, considering.

☆ HANDWRITING:
Likely pretty high quality, in almost all scripts. Not fancy, but extremely clear. It's much easier to learn to read and write a language than to speak it, so to speak 12 of them fluently shows just how much time he's spent practicing on paper as well.

☆ MENTAL INFORMATION:
There's no special hidden side that secretly loves everyone, or anything like that. He's actually quite honest and open about how he feels: he hates everything. A character that's able to access why, however, would learn this constant anger was brought on through lies, betrayal, and being wrongly treated as inferior. They'd discover honesty and standing up for themselves will earn a more favourable response, while he can only see things like love, friendship, or wanting to help others as fake.

☆ MAGICAL INFORMATION:
Characters who can detect magic abilities may notice he can use a Dying Will flame, or more specifically the Flame of Wrath. That said, he doesn't hide the fact, either, so this knowledge won't put them at any advantage.
His flames are partly Sky attribute, so they're the most similar to actual fire in that they do have heat and the ability to burn. They're considered extremely powerful, even compared to others in his canon, and he's able to increase their power even further by combining them with his custom made X-Guns-- the shots capable of disintegrating anything on contact.


✹ IC PERMISSIONS

☆ HUGGING:
Sure, but why? He'd prefer to not come in contact with trash.

☆ FLIRTING:
Go ahead. He won't miss the point, but he won't react any differently.

☆ KISSING:
Again, why would anyone want to? I have no problem with it. Reactions may range from indifference to confusion, on a good day.

☆ ROMANCE:
Try if you want! I won't stop you. But love and friendship and all that crap really annoys him. While it's not impossible to establish a relationship, he won't magically become affectionate or anything. Likely the highest praise one can earn along this route is being treated like a possession. It's not an exemption from being beaten if he gets irritated, either. Just look at Squalo.

☆ SMUT:
I mean. If you want to try...
PM me first so we can work out what's happening. His responses to things are kind of.. unfriendly. If he agrees, he'll probably still sound like he doesn't, so your character may have to figure it out for themselves whether or not they have permission. And if he's the one asking, it probably isn't a question. He sure won't give any warnings, either, if he's going to hurt them, during. Also make sure to let me know if you prefer writing it out, or fade to black.

☆ FIGHTING:
PM me if it's going to get serious, but for the most part yes go for it. Keep in mind he is canonly powerful, even if he did lose to a 14-year-old, and still knows many ways to kill people aside from just shooting them. He prefers his guns only because he can't be bothered to waste any effort on weaklings who don't deserve it, but he's perfectly fine at melee combat if necessary.
If he likes your character, they probably won't die. If he doesn't, you might want to reconsider.

☆ MINOR INJURIES:
These are always fine, but PM me if anything should be breaking-- skin or bone. I don't want to misread things and accidentally write the damage off.

☆ MAJOR INJURIES:
PM me first. I don't do too well with extremely graphic descriptions, especially with anything surgical in nature-- so toning down the detail is the best way to still get what you want. Dismemberment isn't my favourite, either, but mainly I'm just shallow about appearances, so the content itself is fine. The more visible and permanent something is, the more I'd feel better having it happen closer to a death.
My only absolute NOs that I won't budge on are eye damage and genital mutilation. So. Uh. Yeah, let's not.

☆ DEATH:
PM me first. I need to know how it's happening before I can decide whether I have any idea how to play it.

☆ TELEPATHY/MIND READING:
PM me first. He's not very open about things, so to an extent this is almost required in order to hold a conversation. But his past is something he doesn't want to share. Partly because canon doesn't explain it in full, I'd like to keep details of the Cradle Affair, as well as what he did to take the position of Varia's boss from Squalo, off limits.


✹ HMD?

Xanxus is.. tricky. He's quiet, and we don't see as much of him in canon as we need to. Because there's a lot of different ways to interpret his actions, there's also a lot of ways to mess up. I'll try to adopt the headcanons of whoever I'm playing against, but if something seems off, let me know!
